A Dancer's Bunion Surgery

As a dancer, my bunion became progressively worse, especially because I dance in heels, and fast - salsa dancing in heels.  The joint became so painful that I didn't enjoy going out to dance anymore.  I finally decided to get bunion surgery and did a lot of research for the effect on dancers.  I found a great surgeon in LA, and went through the operation on Dec. 21st, 2007.

The procedure was straightforward and after two weeks, the swelling has gone down, but I still don't feel like it has healed (it's only been two weeks after all) - so I cannot put my full natural bearing weight on it.

I am hopeful, though, that I will get back to normal in about a month.  I will keep you updated!  I highly recommend my podiatrist, and if you read up on his website, you will see the procedure he uses to realign the joint which gets to the root of the problem.
